Hi Sarah,
We recognize and understand that concern. Truth is that this packaging was a conscious decision made based on hard science. Our plastic bottles are not made from recycled electronics and do not contain flame retardants. They are made locally here in Utah from BPA free food-grade PET #1 plastic. Our silver products have a very long shelf life if they are stored in dark plastic bottles, which is why we use them. We don’t use glass bottles because of research done at a major university comparing the effects of different types of containers on silver products over a long period of time, and the data showed that silver products are best stored in a quality food-grade plastic container that is darker in color. The reason for this is that the research showed that glass actually has a slight charge, and over time, it will slowly pull some of the silver particles out of suspension in the water and they will stick to the glass - making the product less potent and effective.
So, if you store the silver liquid in glass for a few months, your product won’t be as potent as it started out, whereas in a food-grade PET plastic it will last years and years and the product will stay the exact same potency as when it was made. If you are putting the silver products in a glass container for just a few days or even a few weeks, that’s totally fine. It shouldn’t affect the product much at all. However, if you were to leave it in there for several months, it would slowly become a little less potent. I hope that makes sense. Please let us know if you have any more questions. Multiple studies have confirmed this simple science. If you would like a copy of the study referenced above, feel free to email our team.
